M3: Understand Feedback

(M3) The video includes the feedback that you were given by the client, questions that you were asked by the client and your responses.

Explain what you understood the feedback to be. The client was represented by Kristel Hutchings, a BBC Producer.

Matthew the protagonist -

-Who is he, what is he like (charismatic or introverted) ?
Matthew is quiet in his own right. He has a charismatic personality in the way he reacts to things as he is quite exaggerated within his own little bubble. His introverted character that dislikes the outdoors and socialising makes him qwerky and funny in the way he responds to people and objects. He is weary of new things and places and is specific as to who he interacts with.

-Why is he in the village?
Matthew's and his parents have moved up  to the village from sub-urban England because of their work. He has had no choice in the matter and has just taken his GCSE's and will go onto being educated at a college which is a bus ride away. Matthew becomes friends with Matilda and James because they are the only other kids in the village so they have been forced to be friends due to location circumstances.

-Why do we care about him?
We care about Matthew as a character because he has likable traits that allow the audience to relate to him. For most young people don't live in rural areas, Matthew's narrative and personal discovery's of the village allow us to empathise with somebody unused to rural life away from cities and towns.

-What's the theme of the series (evading being hunted)?
The overall theme of the series is being hunted connotating from the title 'Pigeon Hunt'. As Matthew the protagonist is on the run from what he believes police as well as Matilda who he thinks will kill him. There are other themes as well such as youth friendships, moving to a new place and disappearances.

-There will be weather limitations/ contingencies of filming on rural location?
For filming in rural Scotland there will be weather limitations. This is why scenic shots and wide scape landscape shots will be done on location and the rest such as in the village, a house or forest can be done either in a studio or within the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales.

-Representation: female character- her relationship to the audience, do we like her? Do we empathise with her?
Matilda as a character is strange and psychotic, yet we empathise with her because her lack of social skills makes her humorous. When we realise she is a killer, that's when our thoughts on her as a character change and we see that she is dangerous as well as strange.

-Marketing: How will I grab audiences attention?
Within my marketing the main scope of my advertisement that will attract an audience will be the horror and sinister tone over beautiful natural landscapes. I will show a lot of my setting through the advertising to show a mysterious place that an audience would like to delve in and discover more about

-How will I make it something young people will want to watch?
As well as settings, I will also use my young characters to attract the younger audience. I will have them posing in their more exaggerated expressions that are funny which I feel will be humorous for the audience and make young people want to get to know these archetype characters.
