P4: Trailer

Trailer

For the advertisement campaign, the trailer was the key element of advertisement that would promote and gain audience interest in the series. The trailer is capable to present the characters moving and talking, as well as show the landscape and world of the series. I can also show dates of release as well as the title logo as the trademark icon for the television series. As an element of advertisement, the trailer is capable of reaching out to a lot of viewers.  It can be viewed on YouTube, the BBC Three website, the Facebook page, as well as being shared by audiences to their friends and so on.
checking footage

For the trailer I filmed everything in one shoot day in order to save more time editing etc. I filmed the footage using a Sony DSLR. I transferred all the footage from the SD card onto the Mac, going through what footage was clear and sharp and what was blurry and unsuitable for usage.

Once I did that I organised all of my good footage onto a file and transferred it all onto Final Cut Pro

Here I cut down each piece of footage using only what I wanted and to make sure I got the best overall trailer. With most trailers, clips of the footage is very snappy built up of numerous shots. The intension with my trailer was to show a slow progression of the character and setting. I didn't want to move through clips in sick succession as I wanted to offer the audience a detailed and not brief view of the setting and atmosphere.

I edited all the footage so it lined up well and audio matched moments of tension within the footage which would give more impact.

For my music I used Hotel Lux's 'The Last Hangman' as the audio in the trailer as it gave the right vibe and atmosphere for what I wanted to show. I copied the link from YouTube into an MP3 converter which changed the file into one I could use on Final Cut Pro. After all the footage worked and lined up, I uploaded it all to YouTube for viewers to watch and share.
