M2 - My Pitch

 Pigeon Hunt

After the rehearsal of my pitch I would say I was well informing to the audience and gave a good overview of my series. I felt I engaged with the group well and enjoyed speaking about my product which would hopefully allow a client to engage an interest to my product as I feel positive and confident in it.

I was confident with my idea however there were elements of my product where I needed more information and understanding such as where the series as a whole will lead and elements of filming within location. I believe that I used clear language and structured my piece in a formal and understandable way which my audience understood as there were few questions regarding the plot and the process of production.

My body language could have been slightly more formal but my relaxed tone made the audience comfortable and focus on the ideas I was pitching but I could have timed it better and focussed on the main points and made a more secure plan to not run over lose the focus of my audience after speaking for a while.

Overall I would say I made a strong pitch for my idea. I believe my presentation was stylised and branded well with my title and relevant images but to improve I will use my logo title on all the slides to brand my pitch more. In terms of the amount of text, I received feedback that I had used a lot so for my official pitch I will remove excess words and write out onto cue cards, bulk information I want to share.

In terms of my supporting documents I was happy with what I had produced. I will however bring in some example posters for the series as well as a potential opening scene with script.

For my use of multimedia my pitch was solely just on a power point. For my next pitch I will print off supporting documents I have created, as well as link my opening scene which I can show to the client.

Did my presentation include? -

-Title, yes
In my next pitch I will use my title on every slide to brand my product more

-Summary, yes

For my official pitch I will condense this to key moments and write out the main body of the series on cue cards

-Statement of need, nearly

I included our unique selling point but for my real pitch I will also include a statement of need as to why our TV series is needed to be aired. What it offers to an audience

-Production Description

I have included episode length and spoke the series length but for the format the series will be 1080p shot in 16mm with a dimmed tone as it gives a good realistic image and a gritty tone to the movement

-Budget

I have illustrated the budget within my pitch

-Production Company

I will need to address potential production companies in my pitch. I will look into local companies in the area in which I have scouted (Fort William) to reduce cost of transporting crew and equipment.

-Character Profiles

Narrative Details-

I have been clear on what occurs within the pilot but for my series as a whole I need to be more certain on what occurs and where the story leads

Supporting Documents

I will also add prototype poster and an opening scene with script

Questions that were asked-

-Where will the series lead and will the plot of the pilot create enough material for a whole series

The killer Matilda will come back and not be dead which is what Matthew seems to believe. He doesn't know this until coming face to face with her again and the narrative follows a chase he faces against Matilda as well as police. The series will come to a close where Matthew and Matilda face off with police on the scene too and Matilda will be shot by James who come back after being missing.

-Format of video

My series will be shot in 16mm to give a large sense of realness but a gritty tone. In editing I will use darker tones to the footage to create that sinister feel. It will be distributed in 1080p format.

-Production Team

I have found a Scottish film production team called TigerShark.Ltd who are north of Glasgow. Utilising their team would help in terms of budget as less equipment and crew will need to be transported to location.

Other content could be filmed on a tv set in a studio or using country cottages in places such as North Yorkshire or the Lake District

Anything catch you out -

When asked about the arc of my series as a whole I was unsure where the narrative would lead after the pilot episode. I now have a secure idea on the narrative arc and how the series will pan out

I would say of the questions asked, the question about location and production team to reduce budget and increase accessibility was most helpful for me to plan exactly how and who will help me film the series

  1. Patrick this is not detailed enough for the Merit I'm afraid, you need to address all of the questions I asked when I set the homework including an analysis of the questions you were asked and what these tell you about changes you need to make before the final pitch.
